Heteropteryx Dilatata, female The ugliest bug you ever saw. It is huge! 7" tall and 5" wide in a 10" by 8" frame. It is so big and meaty that the natives dine on the tasty abdomen. You can see the cut the natives make from the back side of the frame. Remember, all frames from BugInABox.com have glass on both sides so you can see this kind of cool stuff and tell your friends the real story.
The body has almost one hundred very sharp spikes, and the skin is very hard. You wouldn't think nature would also provide them with wings, but they do have very thin pink wings with thick veins, hidden under thick green wings. These stick bugs are mounted so you can see both sets of wings, all six legs, and their beady little eyes.
The more beautiful is the female of the species. The male is just plain brown, and looks exactly like a stick.

| | Heteropteryx Dilatata, male The ugliest male bug you ever saw. 6" tall and 4" wide in an 8" by 8" frame. Look closely and you'll see the thin wings used for flying have many small veins which add strength, but there are also two hard outer wings at the top which protect the thinner wings.
If you order both the male and female, we can put them in a single frame for you. Just mention so in the comments field when you checkout.
